Giants Leap in the Cavan Burren: Blacklion, Co Cavan

by | Jun 19, 2012 | Ancient Places, Cavan, Legends & Folklore, Scenic Spots

With a limestone landscape similar to the Burren in County Clare, the Cavan Burren was planted with trees in the 1950s giving it a much different look. The area is filled with historic and archaeological sites, like the wedge tomb called Giant’s Leap. Near this spot, two giants vied for the attention of girl by jumping the nearby chasm. Only one made it across; the other is buried beneath the enormous stones.
