Daniel O’Connell’s Triumphant Chariot at Derrynane House: Caherdaniel, Co Kerry

Derrynane House is the home of Daniel O’Connell, known as “the Liberator” because of his great contributions to Irish political history (including Emancipation for Catholics). The highlight of this house (reached by a very winding road off the Ring of Kerry, toward the coast) is an enormous triumphal chariot, used when he was released from prison to crowds of thousands of adoring fans. The movie offered in the house is definitely worth watching, and the house is full of unique and interesting furniture. The gardens are famous and wonderful to walk through.
