This holy well sits at the western edge of Valentia Island and is dedicated to St Brendan the Navigator. It is believed the Irish saint was the first person from what is now Europe to “discover” North America… about 1,000 years before Christopher Columbus was on the scene. The roads in this part of the island are narrow, and visitors generally do not attempt driving the final, two-track portion of the road and opt to walk.
