Tory Island, off the north coast of County Donegal, is unique in many ways: it is the only Irish island which still has a King; it is the only inhabited Irish island to have been designated a Special Protection Area for birds; it has the only Tau Cross in Ireland still in it’s original place; and it is quite possibly the place where Ireland was first inhabited. Together with all that it is also rich in Irish history, a place filled with Irish mythology, a place where Gaelic is still the mother tongue and a place where the visitor can step back in time to a much earlier Ireland.
