In 1995 Irish town of Kilkenny decided to start a festival of comedy. It became a major success and still on every year along with other festivals in Kilkenny. It is also known internationally. The Cat Laughs Comedy Festival is held over the first weekend in June each year and draws major crowds due to class acts in comedy.
