The Remains of Castlesaunderson: Castlesaunderson Demesne, Co Cavan/Fermanagh

The once grand estate is in the hands of the Cavan County Council and home to the Boy Scouts of Ireland’s new €3 million complex. The grounds include a church and cemetery with plots for the Saunderson family and the ruins of the 1840s castle. The castle had been open as a hotel, but was closed due to fire. There are two entrances to the grounds; the one on the N54/A3 is right on the Cavan/Fermanagh border and goes directly to the church and castle before reaching the Scouting facility.
